This place is NOT CLOSED! They have moved locations and don't have a new Yelp page. They are at 7531 S Virginia Dare Trail in Nags Head. You will pull in and may think the shopping center is closed or run down or something but this is in the back! They have a very small bar and "art" which is just shirts, flags, and some other beach themed stuff. This place is awesome and hilarious. Dirt the bartender was there and he makes everyone feel special when they walk in. He is the most passionate, loud, and enthusiastic bartender I have ever met in my life. We're obsessed with him. My friends wanted to go back just to hang out with him. When we walked in, a man was eating a 14 inch pizza slice from Bennys next door (also not on Yelp, but they sell large slices or 28inch pizza pies. Dirt was cheering him on as he tried to practice for a contest the pizza place has (eat a whole pie in under 30 minutes and win money). They do not serve their own food here but you can eat other food here. Lost Colony only services beer so if you like beer, this is the place for you. Before we left, we signed their keg! I know we will be counting down the days until we can come back!

Has a super nice lunch and two rounds of a great IPA. Sat at the bar and it was very chill and hip. Due to COVID the place is open from 9-4 only so plan ahead. They typically have 42 employees and right now they have 9 hard working folks. Has a great lunch and time here!

We planned our trip on going here. We had planned on going to the gardens in the town and ultimately the Roanoke reenactment. But we read about this place and we're excited to go. As it got closer to our trip, we read that they place has suffered with low staff due to some factors being Covid related, infected employees and low staff. They had to unfortunately offer a smaller menu which wasn't exciting in the least bit but I get it. They altered their hours from 11 am - 4 pm and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. When we arrived they said 45 minutes. We seen that nobody was ahead of us. It was as if they didn't want us to wait and just leave. We waited 12 mins and they called our name. I had the fish and chips, they couldn't describe how big the fish was. It was great but did a number on my stomach, that's on me for choosing fried food. The beer was okay. A bit disappointed on the beer. I asked for an IPA but she gave me the same beer that I previously had. I drank it. Then they charged 20% gratuity automatically since we had 6 people. The service was good, but normally 8 or more people and they weren't busy. The place inside is very small and tight. Minimal space outside to dine. I gave it 4 stars because the menu which is out of their control and the beer not being that great. My wife's food wasn't that great and others complained, especially my daughter who is a vegan, couldn't eat anything. Disappointed

Food is 5 stars! Service is 3 stars to make this brewery/cafe a solid 4 star experience. We started with the crab pretzel and asked our self's WHY HAS NO ONE ELSE THOUGHT OF THIS?! It was truly the bomb dot com. We all really really enjoyed our entrees as well. I got the cheeseburger special which was a bbq, bacon, mushroom, bell pepper, white cheddar mess of goodness. My two friends both got the shrimp melt on a baguette which were also amazing. Our service, though, was just kinda meh *shrug.* Sometimes, I just have to remind myself that "baby, you're not home in New Orleans right now. Not every server wants to talk to you," but I still felt salty about it :(. Honestly, it's not a big deal, but going to a local distillery after, and the staff being so much more personable, I felt that maybe I wasn't totally in the wrong in being off put by our server's coldness. It just felt like he was in a rush. Maybe he was! 4 stars is still great! Just not blown-me-away-it-will-change-your-life experience.

Yet again... Lost Colony has impressed us even more. Every time we come back, we try something different and are never disappointed. My husband and I stopped in for a lunch. We started with Brie melt as an appetizer. We never get appetizers - definitely worth it! He got the shrimp and crabmeat enchilada and I got the chicken Philly. We were so happy! Thank you so much. He had the Kitty Hawk Blonde (always delicious), and I enjoyed the Rudy IPA =, equally delicious. COVID related: - Staff members all had some form of face covering (mask or face shield) - Tables were sanitized when you first walked in. - Staff kept their distance from the table for 6-foot safety Lost Colony continues to please! Thank you for another great experience.
